GMH 049 Deconstruction Acer6920 Laptop

Deconstruction of an Acer 6920 laptop for the display and whatever other goodies it may have. This was the Geek’s Linux test bed notebook for many years. It was getting a little old in the tooth. Time to salvage whatever I could.

Found some cool little speakers.

GMH 036 Deconstruction Geek gotta have pot and knobs

This very long 28 minutes deconstruction video is more stuff from the University surplus center, there is a ton of it in my basement. Do you think I got $25 worth of stuff from this college junk? Let me know in the comment section.

This time I was after knobs, meters, and counters from a pre-amplifier that was $3 and 6 Shure microphone mixers at $1 each.

A Geek has gotta have pot and knobs.

This another of the “Lost” videos reclaimed after the new server move. Very similar as to the stuff you find behind the couch when you move it.

The quality is poor and this video has taught me many lessons

* Short video segments are easier to edit than loooooong ones
* Rambling is not interesting
* Indirect lighting works better than overhead lighting
* Jump to fast mode and back in not a good effect
* 20+ minute videos are just not popular or interesting
* I have broken up with my girlfriend (Camtasia) because my new girlfriend (ViedoPad) treats me better
* It’s ok not to know everything, just go back and fill in the blanks later
* 3+ hours to edit any quick video it just too long
* Too much editing makes the final result look choppy

If you watched this entire video then I will buy you a beer the next time I see you, you deserve it.

GMH 029 Deconstruction HP Pavilion DV9000 laptop

This was the deconstruction of one of the old notebooks from the “Notebook condo”. It is well over 5 years old and it still worked. It’s only offenses were that it had no wireless, it was sloooooow, made strange clunky noises and it weighed in at over 8lb’s. The original goal was to salvage the screen for a Gaming Arcade project, the Harmond Kardon speakers and anything else of value.

GMH-012 Surplus deconstruction for meters and steampunk box

GMH-012 Surplus Deconstruction meters and steampunk case.  This video is a deconstruction of 3 items from the local surplus center.  It was an attempt to salvage the meters which I seem to have a fetish for.  This deconstruction was mostly a bust. One of the cases was a Motorola radio testing kit that had possibilities for a steampunk case for some future project.

Any suggestions and feedback are appreciated.
